120 colleagues from around the world came together February 19–22, 2025, for a dynamic and inspiring Virtual ToP Gathering — a four-day event dedicated to cultivating personal and organizational impact through the Technology of Participation (ToP).

About the Gathering 

The annual ToP Gathering brings practitioners and trainers of the Technology of Participation together for laughter, learning, and meaningful connection. This year’s theme, “The Strategy of Transformation – Cultivating Personal and Organizational Impact,” invited participants to deepen their facilitation skills, explore transformative practices, and contribute to shaping the future of the ToP Network.

Over the course of four days, attendees experienced workshops, plenaries, and strategic planning sessions, all designed to foster inclusion, innovation, and action.

Highlights 

Day 1: Trainer Connections

On Wednesday, February 19, ToP trainers—apprentice, qualified, and mentor—gathered to build community, discuss leadership priorities, and engage in strategic conversations about the future of ToP training.

Day 2: Gathering Plenary & Workshops

Thursday featured the main ToP Gathering with:

  • An Opening Plenary led by Bill Staples, highlighting transformation in action through stories and reflection.
  • A wide range of interactive workshops, including:
    • Centering empathy for inclusive facilitation
    • Applying complexity principles to ToP methods
    • Personal action planning for business growth
    • Managing stress through somatic care
    • Integrating AI in strategic planning
    • And many more

Participants also enjoyed networking breaks, raffle prizes, and a closing session celebrating insights and next steps.

Days 3 & 4: Strategic Planning

On Friday and Saturday, members collaborated on the ToP Network’s strategic planning process, co-creating a shared vision for the next 3–5 years. Participants identified opportunities, challenges, and strategic directions to strengthen and grow an inclusive, impactful network.

Aims & Outcomes

The Gathering was designed to help participants:

  • Gain confidence and competence in applying ToP methods
  • Observe ToP in action and learn new ways to use it
  • Build meaningful connections and a sense of belonging in the ToP community
  • Contribute to shaping the Network’s collective future

Attendees left the event feeling empowered, connected, and inspired to continue making a difference through facilitation.
