Earthquake Relief Fund

April 25, 2015, Kathmandu and the nearby area encountered a 7.9 magnitude earthquake.

ICA Nepal calls for help.

The earthquake has deteriorated Nepal’s relatively poor economy and instability because of general strikes. Immediate rescue efforts are underway and the estimated death toll continues to rise. On the morning of April 26, ICA Nepal team visited earthquake affected area in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur. Around 2500 people already died and many more are crippled and still stranded in the debris. Hundreds of buildings and heritages are completely destroyed. Tremors are still going on and there might be more causalities and loss of properties. The earthquake is more intense in and around Kathmandu which is the most densely area of Nepal.

ICA is active in Nepal for the last two decades and has contributed for the well being of disadvantaged people of Nepal. It is committed to provide support to the affected people and provide support and emergency supplies to the people. Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr. Sushil Koirala has reiterated the need of international support to tackle this devastating cause of human tragedy. To meet the national expectation, we look for your support so that we will be able to provide relief and recovery of the affected people. Your support will be spent on disaster recovery and relief activities including providing food, clean water, fuel, shelter, hygiene products etc. We will continue our presence to enable the affected people to recover from the impacts on longer term.
